Converting a Project Size From 14 count to 16 count aida

Postby 37stitches » Thu Jan 11, 2018 10:46 pm

Hey,
I am want to get started on a project, but am having a terrible time finding fabric the correct size and color for a reasonable price. The project calls for a 28 count linen, so a 14 count aida, and a 26X23 piece of fabric. My question is if I convert it to a 16 count, can I use a smaller piece of fabric, and if so what size? Math is not my strong suit. Thank you!

You can do any chart on any size fabric. To calculate the size you need the stitch count which should be on the front of your chart in the format * x *. Divide each of these figures by the count of fabric you want to use - in your case 16 - and that will give you the size in inches of the design. To these figures you must add 4-6 inches for a border all round and that is the size of fabric you need to use.

Thank you so much for the explanation. The math worked out perfectly (and even I could do it!). That cuts the cost of the fabric in half. Again thank you so much for the advice!
