How to make a stitched brooch

Make your own beautiful brooch using the 'Bloomin' Brooch' pattern from the Design Library in issue 217. Follow these simple step-by-step instructions to create your own unique accessory!

  1. Back your stitching with iron-on interfacing.
  2. Cut around your stitching, leaving at least two to three aida blocks all the way around.
  3. Place the motif onto a piece of felt, any colour you want will be fine, and sew it in position.
  4. Trim away the excess felt to create a border.
  5. Sew a brooch clasp or safety pin onto it using a double thickness of sewing thread.
