How to stitch squashed fractionals

Squashed fractionals are worked when chart squares are split horizontally or vertically into two symbols. Each stitch is made in exactly the same way as a full cross stitch, but it only uses half the space.

To stitch the squashed fractionals, simply work the two fractionals next to each other - one above the other for horizontal fractionals and side by side for vertical fractionals. Squashed fractionals are easier to work on evenweave (see the diagrams below) than aida, becasue you can use the gap between the threads of the evenwave rather than splitting the aida block (see image above).
