Make a lovely laundry set

To make the laundry bag:

  1. Cut your stitching to measure 30x38cm (12x15in) and back with iron-on interfacing. Cut two pieces of printed fabric to measure 30x68cm (12x27in) and 30x30cm (12x12in). Press your stitching and fabric
  2. Place the smaller piece of printed fabric on top of your stitching with right sides together and machine-stitch using a 1cm (½in) seam allowance. Press seams open. Fold the top piece of fabric in half and press. Press a crease measuring exactly the same in the large piece of printed fabric.
  3. Next, place the two pieces together with right sides together, and machine-stitch along one side. Press open
  4. Machine-stitch two lines, about 2cm (¾in) apart, 1cm (½in) from the join near the stitching, going all the way across the two pieces.
  5. Attach a safety pin to your cord and feed through the gap you have created.
  6. Finally, machine-stitch around the bottom and remaining side and turn through to the right side.

To make the hanger:

  1. Cut your stitching to measure the same width as your chose hanger and around 15cm (6in) deep.
  2. Choose a hanger and draw around it leaving 2cm (¾in) all around. Use this template to cut out two pieces of fabric, however the back piece will need to be 15cm (6in) longer.
  3. Place the long edge of the hanger piece of fabric on top of your stitching with right sides together and machine-stitch all across. Press seam open.
  4. Turn over a 1cm (½in) hem at the bottom of the back piece, press and machine-stitch.
  5. With right sides together, machine-stitch all around the hanger shape (leaving the bottom open) and leaving a small opening for the hanger at the top. Turn through to the right side.

To make the peg bag:

  1. Cut your stitching to measure the same width as your chose hanger and around 25cm (10in) deep.
  2. Choose a hanger and draw around it leaving 2cm (¾in) all around. Use this template to cut out two pieces of fabric, however the back piece will need to be 25cm (10in) longer.
  3. Get the smaller piece of fabric, cut an opening for the pegs measuring 15cm (6in), around 1.5cm (¾in) from the bottom edge. Fold over a 0.5cm (¼in) seam and press. Machine-stitch the top seam in place.
  4. With right sides together, place the fabric with the opening on top of your stitching, and machine-stitch all across the top (this will secure the seam of the opening too).  Press seams.
  5. With right sides together, machine-stitch all around the hanger shape, the sides and bottom, leaving a small opening for the hanger at the top. Turn through to the right side through the opening.
