| KNOW-HOW |

1. Never use a hoop for perforated paper - trim the paper to size and hold it in your hands instead
2. If you prefer to use a frame of some sort, stick your paper to a card mount or an empty picture frame
3. Only fold the paper if you need to, for example when making a card. Hold a ruler where you want the crease and fold the paper over it
4. Trim any rough edges on your paper because these can snag the threads
5. Try using three strands of cotton rather than two for better coverage of the paper
6. Don't just stick to white perforated paper - try using a range of colours depending on the project you are stitching
7. Choose designs that are free from those tricky fractional stitches
8. Take care as you pull the thread through the paper - don't tug at the thread or the paper may tear
9. For a traditional Victorian effect, have a go at stitching designs with muted shades of thread
10. Add beads and metallic threads to designs on perforated paper to make them look extra special
