| KNOW-HOW |
| |
1. Visit a stitching show, products are often much cheaper at these events.
2. Arrange a swapping evening with like minded stitchers.
3. Keep your stitching cupboard neat and tidy so that you can find everything. This way you won't end up buying things you already have but just can't find for the mess!
4. Save all your scraps of fabric and thread. You can make a gift tag from just a tiny amount of aida and a few strands of cotton.
5. Make your own project cards using card from cereal packets with holes punched through.
6. Visit your local stitching shop regularly so that you know when they have their sales.
7. Professional framing can be expensive, so go on a framing course to become an expert yourself.
8. Subscribe to your favourite stitching magazine - you'll get it at a better price and probably get extra freebies too.
9. When sewing lots of small designs, save on the amount of fabric you use by stitching them all on a single piece and trim to size afterwards.
10. Use different qualities of fabric. Try cheaper fabric for quick designs, saving money so that you can splash out on the best fabric for heirloom projects.
