| KNOW-HOW |

1. Make sure you use good quality threads and fabric to ensure that the colours don't run and the fabric doesn't fray too much when you wash it.
2. Make sure all the thread ends on the reverse side of the fabric are securely fastened so they don't work loose in the wash.
3. Use warm water and a mild detergent or needlework shampoo to wash your stitching.
4. Let the detergent dissolve in the water properly before immersing your needlework - there's less chance of it leaving a residue this way.
5. For bad marks, leave your stitching to soak in the water for a few minutes longer.
6. Gently rinse your piece of stitching in cold water until the water runs clear.
7. Don't wring out the fabric as this could damage the delicate stitches.
8. Lay the stitching flat out on a clean towel and leave to dry naturally.
9. Iron your stitching on a medium setting whilst it's still damp. Spread a fluffy towel on the ironing board with your stitching lying face down.
10. For the perfect result, leave the stitching to dry completely in a flat position before framing or mounting.
